The correct use: metal protective varnish

You can find out on this page how to process metal protective paint, what you have to pay attention to and what you need.

You need:

Preparation

  • The consumption of the metal protective paint is on average around 7-8 m²/l. However, this information may vary if you use thinner or apply thicker layers.
  • Ensure that the processing and drying of the metal protective paint takes place at a temperature of at least 10°C, taking into account the paint material, substrate and room temperature during processing and drying.
  • Remove all sources of dust in the work area.
  • Protect the surfaces that should not be coated with painter's tape.
  • Stir the paint well before use.
  • Sand the surface and ensure that it is clean, dry, free of grease, silicone and wax. Remove any loose old paint or rust before use. Do not use soapy cleaners or scouring agents as they are made from fatty acids and are therefore not suitable for dissolving grease.
  • If desired, dilute the metal protective paint with approx. 5-10% thinner.

Processing

  1. Apply the metal protective paint evenly to the prepared surface. Make sure that there are no bubbles, runs or noses.
  2. For larger areas, use a paint roller or airless spray gun to achieve an even result. A brush can be used for difficult corners and edges.
  3. The metal protective paint is dust dry after about 3 hours. After application, allow the varnish to dry for at least 12 hours. During the drying period, avoid touching or applying tape or other materials to the coated surface.
  4. The paint can be painted over after 12 hours if another coat is required. After about 7 days the varnish will be completely hardened.
